Tom Woodward, CEO & President, announced today that he has chosen Kelly Radandt to lead the Woodward Radio Group as General Manager.  Kelly has been with Woodward Radio Group since 1989, serving the division in sales, sales management and national sales. Kelly has also served as Chair of WCI’s Employee Owner Communications Committee, participated on the Woodward Foundation Committee, as well as served on several company-wide task forces, including those for the mission statement, participatory management, and Rev-It-Up.

Tom praised Kelly for her work, past and present, with Woodward and the radio industry.  “Kelly has a proven and solid track record with us in sales, management and team leadership.  In addition, she has been an active Board Member for the highly regarded Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and just recently served as Chair of the Board for that organization and is currently the Immediate Past-Chair.  She is a champion of our employee ownership culture.”

“I am truly honored and excited to be WRG’s next General Manager. Greg Bell leaves a heritage and culture of highly engaged, passionate employee owners here at WRG. With the help and input from my co-employee owners, I look forward to taking WRG to the next level,” Kelly offered.  “Thank you to Tom, Greg, the interview committee, and most of all, my fellow candidates for this position.  I know that it was a very difficult decision to make because we were all very strong candidates. Together we will make this transition.”

Radandt will assume the General Manager role at Woodward Radio Group July 1st as Senior Vice President, Greg Bell, retires on June 30th.  Greg will remain with Woodward Communications, as a consultant, assisting with company-wide employee owner development, business development in the Appleton/Green Bay marketplace, and provide Kelly with advice & counsel as needed.

Greg offers that Kelly is a true professional that is ready for the challenge ahead.  “Kelly’s work speaks for itself as does the reputation she’s earned through the years with us and the industry.  We have a wonderful and talented mix of employee owners and with Kelly’s leadership the future is bright.”

The search to replace Greg began in early February and was led by Becky Wiegel, WCI HR Director.  With her guidance, a committee of employee owners, Steve Brown, Dave Edwards, Sandi Schmidt and Dan Terrien, vetted the applicants and conducted the initial round of interviews, ultimately forwarding the top candidates onto Tom.

“I am thankful for the dedication and thoroughness that the search committee put into this decision,” Tom said.  “Additionally, we had a strong field of internal candidates, which speaks to the depth and quality of the radio division overall and Greg’s guidance, coaching, and leadership,” added Tom.

Two Rivers Marketing, a full-service marketing agency, was recently selected as one of OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work 2014 for the second year in a row. Each year, OUTSIDE recognizes the top 100 companies in the United States that help their employees strike the ideal balance between work and play. These companies encourage employees to lead an active lifestyle, are eco-conscious and prioritize giving back to the community.

“We’re excited to once again be recognized by OUTSIDE as a top place to work in the country,” said Barry Bruner, senior group director at Two Rivers Marketing. “We continue to put more focus on work-life balance, a healthy environment and having fun at our agency. Energized, happy associates excel at their work, and we recognize that this engagement has contributed to our success year after year.”

Since opening its doors in 2000, the agency has focused on putting its associates first, with the belief that doing so would ensure innovative solutions for its clients. Associates enjoy flexible summer hours, extended lunches and continuing education opportunities. Associates can also take advantage of the abundance of running and bike trails around Des Moines’ Historic East Village neighborhood. Our focus on associates has allowed Two Rivers Marketing to create a vibrant employee culture while also building a strong reputation in the business-to-business marketing industry.

Associates are encouraged to give back to the community and do so each year by contributing their time and resources to a variety of causes. This year, associates participated in a Plane Pull benefiting Special Olympics Iowa, organized a silent auction for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

The agency hosts several events throughout the year, including an I-Cubs baseball game outing, a golf tournament, a chili cook-off and a holiday potluck. Other traditions include framed caricatures to celebrate associates’ one-year anniversaries, chocolate chip cookies to announce that an associate is expecting and Rec Fridays, where associates are encouraged to socialize for the last hour of the workday.

“As our agency continues to grow, we encourage new associates to share their ideas and interests with others,” Bruner said. “This helps us create a dynamic and positive associate experience.”

To find the best places to work, OUTSIDE conducted a rigorous eight-month vetting process in partnership with the Best Companies Group to assess the policies, practices and demographics of hundreds of companies, going straight to the employees to gauge factors like corporate culture, role satisfaction, work environment and overall employee engagement. The Best Places to Work list represents the cream of the crop: companies who cultivate a comfortable and collaborative workplace, enable their employees to enjoy the great outdoors and take pride in their roles in the community and the environment.

“If you’re considering a career change or searching for your dream job, OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work list is the first place to look,” said Michael Roberts, OUTSIDE executive editor. “These companies set the standard for workplaces that really value their employees and offer an experience that’s fulfilling inside and outside the office.”
