WAPL Wins Award for 2011 Marconi: Rock Station of the Year

For the second time in 4 years, WAPL was awarded the top prize in radio by being named Rock Station of the Year by it’s peers at the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual convention September 15, 2011 in Chicago.  Facing competition from big markets like Los Angeles and Austin, TX, WAPL took the award back to one of the smallest markets in the country by creating a big market sound through innovative programming and listener promotions that are second to none.

In accepting the award, WAPL Program Director, Joe Calgaro pointed out to the auditorium audience that “…it looks like Green Bay wins again in Chicago!,” referring to the Packers victory in January’s NFL Championship game.

The MARCONI Awards from the National Association of Broadcasters and the Radio Advertising Bureau were established in 1989 and named after inventor and NOBEL PRIZE winner GUGLIELMO MARCONI, the NAB MARCONI RADIO AWARDS are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio.

The Rockin’ Apple is STILL Rockin!
