Fisher Joins COG January 29; Promotion Effective April 1, 2009
Tom Yunt, WCI President & CEO, announced today that Steve Fisher, Telegraph Herald General Manager, has been named Group Publisher, Weekly Division effective April 1, 2009. Fisher will join the Corporate Operating Group (COG) January 29 and serve in his current role until a TH Advertising Director is hired. The media search firm Youngs, Walker & Company has been retained to conduct a nation-wide search for Fisher’s replacement.
Fisher will report directly to the President & CEO, but also within a matrix or dual reporting relationship to Jim Normandin, VP Newspapers & Commercial Printing to insure that ongoing communications, synergy and cooperation continues, improves and flourishes between WCI’s two print media divisions…the Telegraph Herald and the Weekly Division.
Fisher will work out of the Platteville Shopping News offices, serving as the Grant-Iowa-Lafayette Shopping News Publisher with additional and overall responsibility for all Weekly Division properties: the Dyersville Commercial; Cascade Pioneer; Eastern Iowa Shopping News; Grant-Iowa-Lafayette Shopping News (Platteville); Richland Center Shopping News; Wisconsin-Iowa Shopping News (Prairie du Chien) and the Unified Newspaper Group (UNG) publications: Verona Press: Fitchburg Star; Oregon Observer, Stoughton Courier Hub and the Great Dane Shopping News.

Steve’s highly successful professional track record includes General Manager, Executive Sales & Marketing, Advertising Director and Retail Advertising Manager positions with the Telegraph Herald. Prior to joining WCI, Steve held advertising and publishing positions with Quincy Newspapers and Liberty Group Publishing. Steve is a graduate of Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo., where he earned his BA in Communications.
