Woodward Radio Group is an award winning industry leader. WAPL has been awarded the Rolling Stone Magazine Reader's Poll Radio Station of the Year five times (1990, 92, 93, 94, & 95). In 1999, the station won Radio and Records Small Market Rock Station of the Year. The Wisconsin Area Music Industry named WAPL the People's Choice Station of the Year in 2004 and 2006. The same group gave WAPL the award for Radio Station of the Year in 2010. WAPL was a finalist for the National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Award for Rock Station of the Year in 2006. The station then went on to win the Marconi in both 2008 and 2011. Also in 2011, WAPL was named Medium Market Music Station of the Year by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
The WHBY News Department won four awards from the Associated Press in 2011. The statewide honors were for Best Continuing Coverage, Best Hard News-Non Spot, Best Enterprise Reporting, and Best Newscast. It was the second year in a row the department won what's considered the top honor, Best Newscast.
The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awarded WHBY News Department with a first-place honor for spot news in 2011. The department received second place awards for Election Coverage and Best Continuing Coverage.
